Tyrus Hall Shines in College World Series

The Victoria Eagles family is beaming with pride this week as several Eagles alumni touched down in Omaha, Nebraska — all to support one of their own on the sport’s biggest collegiate stage: the NCAA Men’s College World Series (MCWS).

No fewer than seven former Eagles teammates made the trip to surprise Tyrus Hall ahead of his College World Series debut on Friday. Oliver Mabee, Jack Swinton, Kai Gray, Dom Biello, Julien Cull, Witt Nevins, and Tyler Burton all suited up alongside Tyrus during their Eagles years, and now they’re in the stands to cheer him on as he takes the field for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Tyrus is starting at third base as WVU makes its first-ever appearance in the final eight of U.S. college baseball — a remarkable milestone for the program. He may very well be the first Victoria-raised player to ever appear in Omaha, and he’s played a major role in helping the Mountaineers reach this historic moment. Head Coach Sabins has praised Tyrus all season for his consistency, toughness, and leadership.

Adding to the significance of the moment, long-time former Eagles coach Dave Auger also made the trip, alongside Tyrus’ dad, Marty Hall. Dave coached Tyrus through his final four seasons in the Eagles program, making this a meaningful full‑circle moment for both coach and player.

The alumni group plans to catch WVU’s first two games on Friday and Sunday before heading home — but their presence alone speaks volumes. They’re there to support their very own Victoria kid on the biggest stage in college baseball.

A Debut to Remember

Tyrus delivered in his first-ever College World Series appearance. The West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the Troy Trojans 7–5, and Tyrus stayed red‑hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a single, and a team‑leading four RBIs! A huge performance on the biggest stage. Visit the Mountaineers website for full game details.

Go Mountaineers, and go Tyrus!
