Eagles Player Code of Conduct
Registered Victoria Eagles players consent to abide by the rules outlined in the Code of Conduct and agree to represent the Victoria Eagles Baseball Club with integrity and good character. Victoria Eagles players also agree to comply with the BCBPBLs Rules.
Victoria Eagles Baseball Club (“Club”)
Code of Conduct
1. Respect and Representation
- Players’ actions reflect on themselves, their team, the Club, and the Victoria community.
- Participation in Eagles Baseball is a privilege, not a right.
- Teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and sponsors must always be treated with respect.
- Players must demonstrate integrity and good character both on and off the field, positively representing the team within the community and during travel.
- Behaviour outside of the Eagles program—at school or in the community—that is inconsistent with these values or reflects negatively on the Club may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal.
2. Zero Tolerance Policies
Players:
- Drugs and Alcohol: The use of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited. Minors are especially forbidden from consuming alcohol or using non‑medical drugs.
- Disrespect: Verbal or physical abuse, foul language, obscene gestures, hazing, bullying, or taunting of coaches, teammates, opponents, or spectators will not be tolerated. Players must respect umpires’ decisions and maintain polite conduct toward officials.
- Tobacco: The use of tobacco (smoking, vapour and/or chew) is prohibited on the field during any sanctioned competition.
Parents/Guardians:
- Questions about playing time, player development, college opportunities, or prospects must be directed to the Eagles Parent Liaison and Player Rep, Wayne Clarke (wclarke@victoriaeagles.com), not to the coaches.
- Parents are not permitted in dugouts or on the field before, during, or after games unless performing field work or invited by a coach.
- Parents should cheer positively for all competitors, respect officials’ decisions, and be courteous to other spectators.
- Profanity, offensive gestures, alcohol consumption, or smoking/vaping near the field are prohibited.
3. Player Conduct During Games and Events
- Abusing equipment or playing areas, or showing disrespect to officials, will result in disciplinary action.
- Players must cheer positively, exercise self‑control, and avoid profanity or offensive remarks.
- Violations may lead to warnings, ejection, suspension, or removal from the team roster.
4. Hotel and Road Trip Conduct
- Players represent their team, the Club, the sport of baseball, the Victoria community, British Columbia, and Canada.
- Players may not travel to team events outside Victoria in a vehicle driven by a teammate.
- Senior and Junior players must strive to prepare their own meals, water, and equipment to foster independence for future college or professional opportunities (Bantam Eagles excepted).
5. Uniforms and Equipment
- Players must bring all required uniforms and equipment to games.
- Players are responsible for ensuring their uniforms and gear are clean and ready for competition.
- Forgetting uniforms or equipment may result in loss of playing time.
6. Practices and Attendance
- Players are expected to attend all practices and events.
- Absences or lateness may result in loss of playing time or suspension.
- Injured players are encouraged to support their teammates whenever possible.
- Communication about absences must come directly from players (not parents) via email or text to the Team Manager (Bantam Eagles excepted).
7. Accountability
- Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including game suspension or removal from the Club.
- All players, parents, and spectators share responsibility for upholding these standards.
